INCREASE THE SCOPE OF COOPERATION IN PROJECTS

Toward successful implementation of  Strategic Plan of Development of City Municipality of Palilula, improvement of quality of life of citizens and better cooperation with organizations of civil society, administrations and institutions of the City, to develop project of interest for local community in 2011, president of Municipality, Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, held working meetings with leaders of organizations “Proaktiv”, “Protecta”, County Development Agency “South”, Office for Local Economic Development “KLER” and in preparation is meeting with the team of Project Center – Administration of Economy, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection of City of Nis and other interested organization. On this occasion, representatives of management and project team of Palilula Municipality exchanged project ideas, views of local and regional development, they discussed about possibilities of cooperation of public and NGOs in the process joining of our country to the EU, improvement of project activities.

City Municipality of Palilula is profiled to European model, that the local self government unit not determined just as administrative service of local community, but and as a partner who active and efficiently participate in dismissal of all problems of community – highlights Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, president of City Municipality of Palilula. Because in the daily activities and contacts with population of our settlements – says president Novakovic, management of Municipality look at the problems of citizens, establishes priorities and by development and implementation of the project, that not depending on budget of the city, successfully solves by the provision of additional resources. At this moment, in Municipality successfully realizing two international project financed by European Union. First is from program Exchange 3 – that is realized as the “Strengthening of Municipal capacity to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups”. Palilula Municipality was elected late last year as one of 12 municipalities in Serbia for technical support to the Project MSP IPA 2007 – for making action plans of development financed by European Union, implemented by consortium leaded by German Society for Technical Cooperation “GTZ”. Project is working closely with Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self Government and local self governments in Serbia.

For more efficient, modern and functional exercise of rights of citizens, better consideration of problems of citizens, as and raising of quality of services provided by Administration of Municipality was opened CONTACT CENTER – INFO 48 which represents unique informational system. Within just 48 hours, in cooperation with competent Administrations, solves the request of citizens. Palilula is first Municipality in City of Nis and second in Serbia (after Indjija) which is applied system of providing services to the citizens. City Municipality of Palilula is one of five city municipalities of City of Nis, located on south part of the City of Nis. It is naturally – geographically combination lowland (in the basin of Nisava and South Morava) and hilly and mountainous terrain. Surface of Municipality is 117.37 square kilometers, by the census 2002nd here lives 72.165 residents, of which 54.596 lives in the city and 17.569 in rural area. But, according to experts, due to the large number of refugees from Kosovo and Metohija, on territory of City Municipality of Palilula today live about 90.000 residents.
